Researching with old TOPO maps really works..

A park i have been to hundreds of times, once was an old 1800's farm. Some square nails had me in the right area of the structure that once stood there. and in 2 minutes a strong signal... out comes a coin at 4". I couldn't see well so I handed it to my 14 year old, and he says, UM DAD, I think you might want to see this again.... an 1884 Indian Head. beats my previous 1888... found a wheatie 1930 and a few other clads. plus a wealth of iron farmlike bits.. I only covered about 100 square feet.. got a small silver heart pendant, and a 1950's small matchbox type car.. We have a lot more ground to cover.

Addicting yes, going on 30 years of detecting, i'm just surprised I passed on this for the 20 years I knew the place existed..I'm surprised no else has been there yet. and it evident by the stuff i'm yanking out.

Looks like you're at a good hunt site. I suspect that you will find more 19th century coins before you're done and will likely push your oldest coin to date back a few years. Good luck.
