I was metal detecting an old house place that has no structures with my Garrett AT Gold yesterday evening in a field near an old mission when my neighbor's bull decided to investigate what I was doing. I had intended on going to a different spot at the house place but decided to go near the fence due to the bull wanting to get neighborly! I got about 15 feet near the fence and I got a some scratchy high tones but there was a solid mid tone every time I passed over the spot so I started to did. I dug a little then looked to the bull but when I looked down the second time out popped the gold ring!!! I got excited and forgot all about the bull! I cleaned the ring to see that it was a 10k gold class ring that looks like it was from 1950 something! I decided to get on the other side of the fence to fully inspect the ring. I seen small scratches in a spot in the interior of the ring and when I got home to look at it with my loupe I saw that it the initials "JBP" were under the scratches. Lol Apparently someone was mad at the person for a bit! I took it to the landowners the next day, who are neighbors of mine, and we are in the process of trying to find the person it belonged to. We called one person who we thought lived there but they actually lived a little farther up the road so the search continues! I love that I found my second gold ring but if we can locate the owner and give it back to them, it will make this discovery that much sweeter!!! I Love Metal Detecting!!!!

..: NICE FIND usinadi :..

Nice find! Too bad the center badge is missing...makes it much easier to find the owner since you know what school. That one could very well end up in your collection no matter how hard you try to find the original owner.

You know, #3 is out there just waiting for you to dig it up. HH ALL

Thanks!!! lol I know I am just anxious to get back out there!!! I have been over that area for about a year and a half and it amazes me how its not hunted out. The last 4th of July I had went over a spot I had been several times and got a around a 82 signal and I dug up a wheat penny but ran my detector over it again and got a solid 94-95 signal and out popped a 1941 standing liberty half! I have found a total of about 6nils, 9 Wheaties, two silver dimes, one Standing Liberty, 2 WW2 military buttons, 1 copper ring, 2 silver rings, and now 1 gold ring!

So the center piece missing would have had the school name on it? Is the color of the stone in the idle for the birthstone or school color?

The half is"walker". (walking liberty)
That sounds like a great area for you for a go to spot whenever you don't have a new local to work.

If you don't dig it, you don't know what it is for sure and definitely don't know what it may be masking just a bit deeper. Your wheatie and the walker is a great example.

May #3 be in your very near future.

Sounds like the bull led you to the gold. Nice!

sweet find, class rings are always super awesome to find, good luck on returning it, I have returned two and it is always worth it.congrats:headbang::headbang:

Sounds like a buncha bull to me :laughing7:
Man! What a find....nice honker of a gold beauty!!
Congrats!

What a beauty, congrats.

Congrats on a nice find! :occasion14:
Good story! Not sure I could detect with a Bull that close!

That's one sweet class ring, and by looking at it I would say it's yours.

Most of those old class rings would only have a emblem or school initials as an ID and most are wore off or the emblem has fallen off.

Congrads .....Beautiful save!!

So the center piece missing would have had the school name on it? Is the color of the stone in the idle for the birthstone or school color?

It could be either one, the buyer of the class ring has control over the stone color.

Thank you everybody!!!! I love metal detecting and absolutely enjoy the treasurenet community because everyone's advice and success stories keep you motivated!
