Any thoughts on this guy. My other has two heads and the ones I’ve found online don’t match up w this one. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1516551697.581692.webp

When I saw "snake" I thought oh no here we go again:laughing7:. Looks more like some type of old serpent/dragon emblem?

Hahaha I thought for sure I was going to see a chunk of sandstone when I opened this thread. Tom I can't say for sure what it's direct application was but it appears to me to be a fancy double sided hook, almost as if it was designed to be used as a buckle of some kind. Sorry I couldn't be more help, cool find for sure!

Yeah. I️ know she’s from a buckle. Was hoping on a close date. I️ have another we pinned to late 1800’s but these things r tough.

They started in the 16th C, however fell out of fashion in the 17th C, came back in the late 18th C, through to the late 20th C.

No-one that I know of has cataloged these properly.

Reminds me of the one I found, then ended up losing it during a move- Fat chance I'll dig another one!

I've seen one before found on YouTube. They claimed it was a belt buckle. But I like the sword sheath better.
