My smallest complete point to date.

Continuing my leaf blower experiment, i was out this afternoon blowing debris to keep the paths clear. I wasn’t really looking too hard, with what had to be mostly dumb luck I saw this little point. It’s a jug hill (ozark version of Madison) probably made of Burlington. I knew it was tiny but when I got it home I realized it’s smaller than anything else I’ve found, maybe a tie with one that has tip damage but certainly the smallest complete point.

It’s a true arrowhead, for its size it’s not much more substantial than a fire hardened tip. I guess it would still cut better than a sharpened shaft though

Somewhat, the bow wasn’t invented/adopted in North America until the woodland period before that you had larger atlatl points and spears, so true arrowheads are younger but people tended to add to the tool kit not replace things so even historic groups made plenty of large points too.

Nice. I've always thought those were made in mind to just tip the arrow shaft for less weight that would inhibit the flight trajectory and reduce the drag during penetration into the animal or enemies flesh sending the arrow deep into the vital organs.

Those are called Hamiltons in my area. I have a few. That’s a good find any day.
