I didn't want to come home today ! The Davis family took a 4 day trip to my Parents cabin in the Sierras . This was a weekend of hunting for old coins ! We hunted two lakes , a school and the forest . The first day we found some square nails and some old glass . I found one coin , 1945S Merc. . The next morning I hunt early by myself at a small school that has 1880's logging all around it . I found my oldest coin of the weekend , a 1907 S Barber dime . Also at the school I found a 1944D Merc , 1953D Wheat and a very worn 1934 Washington . The next day Carson , my Son , and I went to my favorite lake to hunt near the cabin . It also has silver ! We were hunting for only 15 minutes when Carson yelled out , SILVER !! I ran over and he showed me his oldest coin he has ever found , a 1917 Merc . He was AMPED !! Then about an hour later he finds a small silver plated ring . He is kicking my butt , and I'm very happy about it . Then just before we leave I get a good high pitch , + 79 . It' a 1948 S Rosie . I also found a couple of wheats . Carson said he was ready to hunt again ! So this morning we at the lake at 8am . Carson found 1952 S wheat and I found a 1963 D Rosie and a few more wheats . The oldest one is a 1919 at only 2 inches !
We plan on going once a month for the next 3 months . I can't wait to go back ! Here are lots of pictures .

:headbang: Very nice finds! It's awesome to be able to share your adventures with your son. He'll remember these times forever. Very nice guys. Best of luck to ya'll and congrats! Bryan H.

You're on the right track. Give a kid something fun to do with you and he'll not be looking for his fun on the streets. Congrats!!

:read2: Wow!!!...Those are really nice finds you have there gentleman and there's a lot more to this post for me though.
It brings to mind a since of fatherly values and a need the instill the natural desire to dream, to hope and to accomplish.
I'm viewing this documentation as an example of a caring and loving father standing close too and sharing his desires with the most valuable gift in his life time
Keep it going Dad :notworthy: :headbang: Looking at the smile on your sons face...you are going to be remembered for generations to come.

It does my heart good to see Father and Son sharing quality time together. My Boy started Hookah Diving with me, he said I don't care if I find anything I just like looking around underwater.I believe He will change his mind when He gets his first good find. GOD BLESS, Chris

Spitfire, you said it eloquently, and said it all.

Thanks every one for the nice comments ! It was a great weekend that we didn't want to end . My Son took his 1917 Merc to school for show and tell today !
This lake we hunt at has history dating back to the 1880's ! When I was a kid me and my friends found an old bottle and can dump at the lake . We found 50 plus Acme beer cans that looked like they had not been touched since the 1940's ! Lots of history in the dirt up there .
Here are two more picture of a old porcelain sign we found at another lake . This other lake goes back to 1915 - 1920 and the sign is from the 1930's . I wanted to take it so bad , but not right to do :comfort: .
Thanks again !!!! :thumber:
Glen
