My Wife Says it's a Door Knocker

Hello All. I found this behind a 1941 home site. It's brass and the moving part has a stop on the back side that only allows a restricted up and down motion. When it laid on a flat surface it seems spot on as a knocker.

First question: Is my wife correct about it being a door knocker?

Second question: How old is it? I don't think it went to the 1941 house because it was well behind the house site and 6-IN or so deep.

Thanks for the view and any info. HH C9.

Looks like it's from an antique refrigerator .

Or an old window latch.

You can see where the bolt went into the lever:

I completely agree, ice box (refridgerator) latch. The depiction above isn't quite accurate, as it covers up the pivot for the lever (not a bolt).

You nailed it. It is an old wooden ice box lever
