Mysterious brass object beautiful

Hi I bought this heavy solid cast brass object from a car boot. It looks Art Nouveau and maybe part of a stand? Beautifully made and cast. Just wondered if anyone knew what it could be? The base suggests it maybe connected to something....🤔 many thanks! 28cms tall, the hollow opening is 3.5cms wide....
