Spent 3 hours on 4 different Wheat Fields, just doing tyre tracks :P

Got 5 Scrappy Roman Coins
1 Lead Token
17th C Button
Tudor Button
1739 Halfpenny

Plus another strange Mystery 18th C Tombac Button with MAPPEN WISBECH in reverse. At first I could not work out why anyone would spend the time inscribing their Name & Town in reverse. The answer is obverse, now I studied them, it was put on the mould ::) Still I don't know of this practice ever being recorded on these early buttons. I can only assume its a primitive makers mark (not savvy enough to work out they needed it in reverse for it to work properly)
I have picture 4 others I have found, some over 1 mile apart.

After the short hunt we spent an hour driving around 3 of our farms to show farmers the goodies (none were in). However, we were surprised to see a large stubble field, which I guess they were waiting for rain & have missed the spring planting (or they are waiting & will be late). Either way the :icon_sunny: has done me a fav for a change ;D So tomorrow we have somewhere to go :headbang:

Re: Mystery Buttons - One Step Closer...

think of it as a form mold type or "die set"---- that way once one makes a item stamped betwen them --the lettering * will now be correct

Re: Mystery Buttons - One Step Closer...
