Interesting find I found a counterfeit large cent made out of lead last fall.

I've Never seen a Lead Seal with a Tab, or that Large
But I Have to agree, Lead seal too. Maybe for a Jar ? :dontknow:
Seals I've Found had a string or wire through them.

The Odd Tab on the End Says Definitely Not a counterfeit Coin.

Yep...looks like a lead seal to me as well...

I doubt its a lead seal as there's no features to create or crimp wires/ twine to. most seals ive found are around a 1/2 - 3/4" and have some sort of identification. i think its cast piece with the bump being the gate that was to be trimmed later. Ive found similar lead US large cents that are cast in a sand or plaster mold of some sort. There usually needs to be a gate, especially if its a closed mold like one would have for a two sided coin; again, trimmed later after casting.

It looks like a lead fill, possibly from a horse bit medallion or a stirrup medallion.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

A possibility. All I know is its not a lead seal, to me its a poured bit of lead function unknown. Could be homemade for lots of reasons.

Interesting find...
I don't know.
