You guys have rarely let me down, so let's see what you can do with this one. I found this item in the backyard of a home built around 1910 in Indiana. Most of the things I have found have been from the 1940's. This object has a metal clip on the back similar to a barrette only it does not open up. It is affixed at both ends. Above that is a bent or hooked piece which looks like it was meant to receive something. In other words, it would look like something would slide through the clip and into the bent piece. Thanks in advance for your help. Mystery item front.webpMystery item back.webpSide view 1.webpSide view 2.webp

I think you have one half of a ladies fashion belt.

I bet you're absolutely correct. I didn't turn it that direction. It makes perfect sense. The belt would attach to the "barrette" portion and the other half of the buckle would hook on the bent/crimped portion. Thanks!

Belt buckle imagined.webpHere is the whole buckle imagined. I took another picture in the correct orientation, made a copy of the image, flipped it and added it to the first. I think it was an attractive buckle.
