I dug this up in the back yard of an older home, last year. Does anyone know what it is? It is the size of a silver dollar.

There is a Casino in Cairo, But I don't recall any of the chips looking like that, However It could possibly be older and not in use anymore, HH Art

I agree, probably a casino chip. Was there ever a Cairo Casino in Vegas?

I dont believe there has ever been a cairo casino in las vegas. It might be from an underground game or illegal speakeasy type place. If you type it "illegal casino chip" on ebay you will see the variety of chips and tokens from illegal gaming establishments. Google illegal casino chips and you will get good info too, and maybe find your chip in an online album.

First I would have to ask what material is the coin made from?

If it is a $1 Casino chip, and that's what it looks like to me here in Egypt, then I would have to say that it is from a Casino located there in the States since Casino chips here don't have Dollar denominations on them. Older Egyptian casino chips? Never seen them myself, but would expect them to be in Pounds Sterling if they were before 1960, if at all.

If you send some spending money for me to go investigate the Casinos in Cairo I will be more than happy to provide you will a few sample coins!

I believe it's a Cairo Motor Transit Corp transit token from Cairo ill. from the 30's...but I'm not sure....
