I learn something new every day metal detecting! I found a huge National Guard coin today. It's bigger than a silver dollar and I think it's brass. It weighs about an ounce! Did some research on it and found out that it's called a challenge coin. I'll post a link that explains exactly what it is. Cool find!

Nice score and yes it is a challenge coin. I never go to a bar without one in my pocket.
 
If a challenge coin is presented to a fellow Guardsman, Marine, etc. And you can't produce your challenge coin in return, you buy the first round. If you do produce or counter with your own challenge coin, , then the challenger must buy the first round.
