Native American artifact... Tool of some sort?

Found this while walking in a field the other day. Any ideas? Its cone shaped and has some wear at the bottom. Found in southwest GA...

is it clay?
any markings, how hard is the material?
It sure looks like Georgia clay

Yes its clay.. but there are no markings.

maybe a clay cone support for a kiln
several would be placed on the bottom of a kiln to keep the clay being fired off the bottom
