Native American ID Tags

Posted this in the Arizona section and got no response. So...Last week or so I was at the local library reading an article on Geronimo. It appears that at the time he was held at the San Carlos Indian reservation in 1877 in Arizona he was forced to wear a brass ID tag. I would only guess all the Indians were forced to wear one. Up to that point I had never heard of that. Does any member have any info on these tags or better yet pictures

i have heard tales of the tags...i have not seen one, or a photo...sorry...
i have been flirting with the apache lady down at the store...so...i will ask her...she dodges a lot of questions...i tried to get her on the topic of the lost tribe of the serria madre today...she just smiled...changed the subject...
