I am starting to listen for the solid targets in the gold range. I don't know if this is gold. It rang up at 66 on 18KHz. I can't decipher the hallmarks. It was a bit tarnished (still is) and I've read that 9k gold will tarnish (can contain nickel and copper). So I don't know, but i think maybe it might possibly be gold. If it was copper it would have read much higher. What do you think? Oh yeah, got my WS-4 wireless headphones!

pretty ring, still might do an acid test on it

Could be nickel it turns shades of red...

Beautiful ring. Gold or not, it's a Keeper. I know you were thrilled to find that.

They are very very rarely gold. I like the nickel idea

From the picture it looks like gold and it is stamped. But without a doubt acid test or a quick stop at the jewelry store they will test for free.

10k and down will tarnish, rarely 14k up

10k..

Thanks for all the replies. My feelings are that it is low-grade gold, but sometime i will get a test kit and find out. I spent a long time trying to see what the hallmarks are but came up empty. There is no karat marking. When i got the hit something told me it was a ring. So at least i feel like I am finally making some forward progress again. Been using full tones and it hasn't been real easy, but I can hear the targets better. Still got a long ways to go. Maybe some day I'll try out the Pitch program. I messed with the Gold Field a bit but it was too much for me.

Nice find could it possibly be brass if not gold? "D"

Whatever it's composition, cool find.

Nice looking ring, congrats! :occasion14:

Very nice find. Crushed Turquoise and coral inlay from the 1970’s I believe.
