you can say i am a bit obsesive compulsive, i started with a vaquero and loved it so much i bought a backup one that sits in the box. then i also bought a cibola and then a silver umax and you guessed it. along with detectors that i bought for family members that didn't use them i slowly started to sell some. i have come to the realization that i do not need nor am i ever going to use them all so i will limit myself to just two detectors. i will always keep my vaquero, so obviously i will sell the other one that i don't use. but as far as the cibola's and silver's i will not keep one of each so i have to make the decision do i keep one cibola or one silver umax? sometimes i feel with the vaquero, that i have the cibola with a manual ground balance. so do i really need the cibola? on the other hand i feel the cibola might be a little better than the silver so do i get rid of the silver's? what would you do? i definitly made up my mind that i will only keep two :'(. that is until the next time i get an urge ;D

id keep the 2 vaquero's and sell the rest! there is nothing the others can do as well as the vaquero!

I am starting to hoard detectors myself so im wrong guy to answer but have been

thinking of moving my sov gt for a V and getting silver for tot lot hunting

and keep it in my work van Ill have to wait till spring and some more detecting

I GUESS THERE IS NO WRONG ANSWER GOOD LUCK

From my reading it doesn't appear you're a water hunter so here's my suggestion.

Sell all of them and buy a Tesoro Tejon or Minelab Sovereign GT.

Of the Tesoros the Tejon is by far the best. Even James Gifford himself came out on his forum and admitted the Tejon is deeper than the V. The Tejon has advanced technology over the Vaquero. Once learned it will blow all the other Tesoros away.

But when it comes to overall coin/ring hunting on land, the supreme machine is the Minelab Sovereign GT. I've spent many hours using these in the exact same areas and consistently the GT will find stuff all the others miss. But it's heavier and requires more concentration than the Tesoros. On the other hand, you'll dig a whole lot less trash with the GT.

Know how Tesoros love old rusty nails? With the GT you can hunt nail infested sites all day without digging a single nail.

I really like Tesoros but they love iron and we all know it.

If you don't want the move up to the GT, and the mighty Tejon isn't your thing, then stay with the Vaqueros.

Personally - I like testing different machines from different manufacturers. I would suggest you sell some of the Tesoros and purchase a Garrett or a Whites. You never know, you just might like their brand better. Heck - I like em all! Metal detectors are probably the only electronic equipment still made in the USA. Let's help bolster the economy - and purchase more of them.

I must have had a premonition of what was to come. I agree with Badger, sell everything and go with the Tejon. It is a great machine and goes very deep. I use it on relics and under the right conditions, I mean very damp soil, consistently dig minnie balls at ten to twelve inches. I did dig the rusted end of a square nail at about seven inches last week. Yes, they do love iron but that is good. I have used a Minelab Sovereign and Explorer, and Explorer II for over ten years. I was finding great stuff with the Minelab but missing all of the iron buckles and neat iron things. I dug a single shot percussion pistol (basically just the barrel and trigger, everything else was gone or rotted away), and two gun tools, which I would not have found with the Minelab. I have not used the Explorer II in over a year now. Minelab is a great machine but can be almost impossible to pinpoint at times and not good for relics. It is designed for coins where the Tejon is good at both but probably better at relics.

Keep the Silver Umax and trade the Vaquero for a used Tejon. Sell the Cibola and buy a good set of Killer B headphones and the 5.75 coil. - and a deep digging shovel

decisions decisions, i had a sovereign and sold that new also. too heavy for me. i prefer the v over the t don't ask me why. i have a set of killer bees new never used yet. i was thinking along the lines of keeping one vaquero and one silver. anyone else have any suggestions. the two vaquero's sound good also

If you keep the Cibola you can use the same coils on your two detectors. You could get a 5.75 inch coil for trashy areas and use it on either.

the only thing is i hate to switch coils on factory preset ground balance machines. i usually just keep the stock coil on those, and switch between the 5.75 and stock on the vaquero.

Does that mean you can use the 5.75 from the Tejon on a Cibola?

Bama - you can use the same 5.75 coil on the cibola, vaquero, and tejon. It's a very good coil - the best small coil I've ever used in fact.
