Winter swells here have swept 5ft of sand from the beach down to the rocks. That is where I found this coin wedged between two bowling ball sized rocks. I'm no coin expert but I know by the condition this coin probably has no value. Just interested what it is(or was). The date is long gone but I can make out ONE DOLLAR under the eagle. Any thoughts?

Congrats on the Morgan. Hopefully you can pull off a date. But a nice Barber era coin! :hello2:

Way to go.
Peter

I don't see it as a Morgan silver dollar (1878-1921); head facing the wrong direction and eagle's wings are nearly horizontal versus nearly vertical for the real coin.
Don....

Heck ya your right... Hmm I'm not sure now...

The coin measures 30mm across. I thought it might be a barber too but noticed the head was pointing the wrong way.

Definitely a Barber Half, great find in any condition.

J.Cache is right. Just did a little research and the reverse Barber Half was minted between 1892-1915. This is really an interesting find, the beach is a very secluded cove about 100yrds long that is RARELY visited and has no historical significance. Wish I knew the story behind it-

Yes......that's a Barber/Liberty 1892-1915 silver half dollar......CONGRATS!!!!!!!

Congrats on the big silver! I believe you found a Barber half dollar.

Nice silver congrats!
