Need help identifying old necklace!

This was my great grandmothers, my grandfather was in ww2 and stormed a castle. Some items we know are from that, but others we have no idea. She recently passed, so we can't ask her anymore. I'm at a loss with this necklace and would greatly appreciate the help. I have absolutely no information on it. And no stamp or brand on it to research it myself, and I just don't know where to start with it.

It's set with marcasite. This eBay info link may help shed some light about this type of jewelry, which is still produced today, though I believe yours is old.
