I found a 1940 british penny. Here is a clear picture of the front and back of a clean coin on line. And also a picture of the coin I found. The difference is on my coin there are initials W. W. H. stamped on the front. Does anyone know what this means?

Just a shot in the dark, but probably the initials of a previous owner. Awesome find!

I would think someone, who's initials are WWH, had some letter stamps and decided to put his initials on a coin.:dontknow:

I've done this myself, back in my younger days.

probably just someone playing with a letter punch and put their own initials on it. not a known and recognized counter-stamp such as a known business
