Pete,
Thank you sir for the link, it was Sean at Tortuga Trading who identified the pistol for us, he was however as stumped as us over the engraving on the pistol grip. To me looks like some sort of bell tower? Perhaps an insignia for a garrison armory after the initial distribution?
That's cool. Yea I like & use that site quite a bit.Always have good pics. for guns from the colonial era.
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Hi, I've come into possession of an authenticated flintlock pistol dated 1811 east India light dragoon pistol, halmarks are right however there are some symbols engraved which we can not find. Any help would be appreciated. See picture, any luck email me sinnfein78@aol.com

Here is my theory: It was acquired by a pirate named Thomas Bell, after a raid on a merchant ship in the Indian Ocean. Thomas was illiterate, and not knowing how to write his last name, put his "mark" on the weapon - a BELL! :hello2:

Actually I just ordered a percussion lock rifle kit today, something to keep me occupied while it's so hot here. ;D

I've looked around quite a bit for this particular marking, but had no luck finding it. Good luck, I hope you can track it down.
