Need help identifying weird piece of metal

I found this about 12 inches deep and I have no clue what it is made of. It has a weird symbol on it. Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Barnjak, Welcome to the forum! Judging by your photos, it looks to be rusted cast iron. Perhaps it is part of some type of wood stove.

It looks like it's curved and I think it's a heat shield for a gas hot water heater.
