Nice find bryan. The thread I read said it was given out by the FBI to kids - if it is original - it could go as far back as the 1930's.

Your item dates from 1936 it was the only year that his show ran and you could get the badge by submitting 2 boxtops from a cereal company and .10 cents to cover postage. Of course there were 2 divisions Boys and Girls. There is also a matching ring that goes with the badge. Value on the badge in ex condition is $169.00 the ring is about the same."
And if you Google "Junior G-Man badge" you'll find a Wiki post that relates a greater history. Great find !!
