Please help me identify one of my first finds. I found this with my metal detector. It is heavy like lead and does stick to a magnet. Thanks for the help.

Given a picture and the little information I'm going to say magnetite.
Where did u find it? What color is it (looks black)?

It has black crystals, red, white, rust, and brown.

I found it in a pasture. This area was the site of a small civil war skirmish.

Lead is not magnetic. If it is magnetic therefore it must have iron, and since it’s heavy therefore the more iron it must have. Maybe a little nugget of meteorite? Meteorites are usually dense for their size and they have iron and nickel, so test it to see if it has nickel.

Sorry, it has taken me so long to respond. I live in Fort Smith and I grew up in Charleston, AR about 30 miles east of Fort Smith. I graduated the Police Academy with a guy from Dumas. I've been through your several times. Seems like a nice with a lot of places to search for treasure.

No prob,I understand completely. Who was the guy from Dumas,if I can ask.We do have some history here and quite a few places to hunt.
