We recently found an old rolltop desk that has the date 1858 inside.

It's really cool with a "secret compartment." Unfortunately we didn't find any gold or even a love letter. :laughing7:

Here's a photo of markings we found on the bottom of one drawer.

I'd like to know something about this person if possible. Was he the maker or owner? Can this info help me in any way to learn more about this old rolltop?

Thanks, Badger

Gr Glogau seems to be a location in Silesia if that helps you. Find the Baronosky family there that immigrated to your location and you may have it sorted out. Name, Location and Date.

Cheers,

Would you mind posting a picture of the entire desk please?

Thanks,

I read it Baronsky. I couldn't find anything obvious in Heritage Quest, you could check him out in Ancestry if your local library has it.

Baronsky may be correct.

Hi Nate and thanks much for your help.
The desk isn't here where I am. Someone brought a couple of drawers to show me the wood and general construction.

I haven't even seen the whole piece yet. I hope to get there and take some pictures soon.

No problem. Gorgeous drawer!! Where is the desk, and do they know any history of it - location, previous owners.... that would help a lot in identifying your guy!
