I found this today in my pocket change, I always check my change when I empty my pockets this quarter with 199 was in it, what do you think

Thanks for the infoenamel7 said:Probably a grease filled die.
Will post new pic of front and backTuberale said:I'd second enamel7's opinion. But most grease-filled dies would have some additional detail on the last number. It's certainly unusual, but can't guarantee a mistrike until weight, diameter, thickness are confirmed. Too many oddities being created out there by forgers. Also, when showing any coin, please show both sides. What affects one side often has confirmation in the other side.
Thanks for the info and will let you know what I can find out, good hunting.Tuberale said:In looking at the reverse, I don't see indication of a soft strike.
While loss of a digit in the date often indicates a strike through grease, this looks (to me) more like a completely clogged die strike. Could make it more valuable. But would need independent authentication through an independent grading service such as ANACS or PCGS.
Thanks for the info and good hunting.Sheldon J said:Nice find! At least $50 to a collector, there is a heap web site with values of these things.
