Need help on what I think is a button.

Found this today out in the woods, as you can see its just bigger than a dime. The front seems to be copper and the back is rusty. I've looked at the front at just about every angle and have no idea what the picture is. It looks to me like a two piece button with the loop rusted off. Any ideas on the picture or what it is would be helpful.

I personally am not sure, but the fact that the back is rusty should provide you with a clue as to how old the button is. Hopefully someone else will post some more information.

In the first picture, the design kind of looks like an animal to me. You can sort of see four legs, a head with an ear, and a tail. Almost like a cat with wings

Is that just a design around the edge of the front or does it have writing?

Could be an old type button. don't clean it any further. Might be able to get a design off the front.
