Need help picking out a nice MD for my 7 year old son

Greetings everyone. I am planning to buy my 7 year old son a metal detector for Christmas and I need some help picking out a good one for him. He is pretty small for his age, so I basically want to get the best metal detector that is still small enough for him to handle. Ideally, I'd like to find something that can be shortened/extended so that he can use it into his teenage years and possibly even into adulthood (not to mention that I might use it some too )

As far as price range, I am looking to stay in the $200-$300 range...possibly a little more for the right one. New or used - doesnt matter to me as long as its in good shape.

if that is your price range i would suggest the F2, it is very lightweight at only 2.6lbs and has great reviews!! Its a real coin killer too with great pinpointing!

Digital: Garrett Ace 250

Analog: Tesoro Compadre or better yet a Silver Umax.

Ace 250 would be my choice.... but any of the others are fine too... cheaper yet is the Ace 150 but no pinpointing capabilities.
