Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be? I found it in a field where I have found civil war bullets as well as farming tools.

Looks like a link from a flat drag chain common to farm equipment, grew up around lots of old farm machinery

Looks like a link to a chain drive for some kind of farm equipment.

Bruce R and Erving are correct... it is a link from a roller-link chain, used in a chain-drive on farm equipment, among other uses. Thought you might like to see what the whole thing looks like, in the photos below.
