The rock is all black the parts that look like metal in the picture is just the reflection off the glassy surface

The weight of the rock becomes important, including where it was found. Looks a little like bituminous coal, if so it would be light and soft. Scratches easily. Also could be a black basalt, Michigan should have some of that. That would be my better guess. Button is late 18th to early 19th century and the lead thingie is a lead thingie.

Thanks for the info that might be my oldest button score. It's from my only site where I consistently find older items a few Indian heads from the 1860s a French coin from the 1850s even a gold ring. No silver coins though I figure it's my best spot to find a seated I'll keep hammering it until it's cleaned out thanks again
