I think its tough to say.I will say,I have dug a great many exact,and none of mine date past the 1850's.Darn neat and very cool!

That is a Kent hatchet. The original pattern came from Kent in England -- thus the name. Usually used in shaping logs for cabins and so only sharpened on one side to keep from digging into the wood. These have been made for a very long time and are still being made, so you can probably only date it from the other stuff you are finding around it. I have one identical to it -- except that it is still in near-perfect condition -- made in 1829.
