I found this bullet this weekend at an old site that has produced a Minie Ball and Confederate uniform button. It looks like it is a Civil War era bullet, except for the size. I have never seen a Civil War era projectile that small of a caliber. Any info would be much appreciated. Oh yeah, I found the Barber Dime at the same site. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "that small of a size"? What is the diameter. My first guess would be a .36 caliber Colt cap and ball revolver if that is the diameter? Monty

Need you to mic it out and post that, they had 30 , 32 , 38 , 42 Cal. bullets that were in use , even some odd Cal that where in the 20 to 25 range on some hand held weapons , but they were not the norm and are rare .

But yes we do think of the larger Cal rounds being used at that time and not the smaller ones that were in pistols .

Clean out the grove and see if there are any crimp marks. That would indicate a newer bullet.
