Need help with ID!

Need some help on this one. Found it today detecting in an old church yard in Maryland about 6" down. Its non-ferrous and weights just over 2 lbs. No clue what it could be. Has a small hole in the top and sounds like something inside but it is very heavy. Looks like it reads "National Patented."

Hmmm, I remember seeing one of those posted here in the last year or two but I can't remember what it turned out to be. Search back through the whatzit posts, it might be there or 'today's finds'.

I posted a similar object in the what is it forum, turned out it was a dental mold for vulcanizing dentures!
