That looks like a modern shotgun slug. Never saw one with a star on it before though.

Yep good call. I've never seen a slug out of it's shell. Thanks so much!

Definitely a Foster Slug. Have seen the star on nose but honestly don't remember where. HH

Looks like carved bullets for game pieces

Yes it's a rifled slug....

yep rifled slug.dig em all the time.they do sound nice at 4-5 inches at old sites :O(

For anybody who still has doubts, the photos below are absolute proof that that form of shotgun-slug, which has slanted ridges on its sides, is NOT carved, but is instead a 20th Century shotgun-slug.

The "ridged" slugs were made for use in rifled shotguns.

The photo showing several varieties is a bit too dark for me to be sure whether or not it shows a Barnual (brand) slug with a 5-point star on its top. Perhaps somebody here at T-Net knows (or can find out) whether Barnaul is the manufacturer of the star-marked slug. Barnual is an ammunition manufacturer located in Russia... and that company may have used the Soviet Russia star symbol on its shotgun-slugs.
