Hey Don,
Justin got back to me on these boots. Thanks for your help!
Doug,

Justin did not purchase Nocona until 1980 and we got no archival information with the purchase. I have accumulated some old price lists, but the style number for your boots in not shown anywhere.
I believe the boots are make-ups. Meaning, there was some type of change made to the stock style, possibly a toe, heel, size, width change, or maybe a stitch pattern change. I say that because the style number is preceded by the letter E. Justin always used that system to determine the difference in a stock style and a make-up boot. Most manufacturers followed suite pretty closely and, Nocona Boot Company was owned by the original founder’s, (H.J. Justin) daughter, Enid Justin.

The boots appear to be constructed from Sea Turtle. Sea turtle was in production from the early 1970’s through 1978, at which time they were deemed extinct. We were allowed to use the skins we had on hand to make boots, but could not purchase more skins. If you bought the boots for personal use, keep this information for proof of date of production. I have heard of Sea turtle boots being confiscated because the individual could not prove of date of production.

If you bought the boots for resale, be careful as Sea Turtle cannot cross State or country lines. Check the website for information about selling Sea turtle.

I hope this is helpful.
