Need some info on the Silver Umax only seem to be hitting pennys and pulltabs

Hello i picked a silver umax recently and hit the park. I dug for about 2 hours and hit a boat load of pennys and pull tabs . only hit one nickel . This is a park i ususally go to with other machines and have no problem hitting coins. i had a Compadre it was great on coins. Got the Sensitivity set on 8 and have it set to Disc with machine set on Iron any ideas?

Put a dime on the ground and see if it hits. If so, then you haven't got the coil over a silver coin yet. When I hunt a really trashy park and don't want to be bothered with pull tabs, I set the disc at max and only dig dimes and up with the occasional penny. It's like a coin vacuum.

Yeap...But for some reason here in the south, people are tend to litter more than in other places. I have parks that I could spend hours digging pulltabs and trash and not move more than 10-20 feet. In those parks I'm content with a couple dollars in clad. Maybe one day I will take the time to clean them up. I do have sites where I dig everything. The point is, if you set the silver to max disc. it will find coins only including silver. If you don't have the 5.75" coil you need to get it.

I have my Silver Umax disc set at FOIL and sensitivity at 10 and seem to do pretty good on coins.

Must just be a trashy park then. I had sensitivity to 8 and set on Disc with it set on Iron. Will try it set on Disc with sensitivity on 7 and Disc set to foil and see what happens. Thanks

Well went out today second day out on the umax. I think i solved the problem. Originally i had set the machine to Disc & set on Iron with sensitivity to 8. Today i decided to try this setting that i read on a forum that says to set the Disc at Foil right on the o in Foil and i set the sensitivity to 7 and there was quite a difference in performance with the machine after that. I was still hitten alot of pennys but not as manny . The detector started commen to life 1 found about 1.80 in change some strange mexican coin a cheap ring and some tiny middle eastern coin and a swiss army knife and some othe misc junk. Well i guess the Foil trick works pretty good. Thanks guys and sorry for the commotion. I will say ive never owned a detector that found so much strange stuff in one day.
