So I'm at about a four month skunk streak at this point. I used to think my low volume would help prevent this (although it certainly limits my finds too), but it hasn't been the case.
It started with boxes that were 95-100% made up of coins from the same year. Then the boxes changed to black wrappers for a few weeks (i only had black wrapper boxes two time before and those were back to back weeks). Then I got some wrappers that were for dollar coins, but used inside out (I assume they ran out of half wrappers). Lately it's been lots and lots of heavily circulate coins.
It is improving somewhat though. The first 2 months, I couldn't even find an NIFC. Then I finally got a few of those. At month three, I got a 5 REALLY banged up proofs in one box. Month four would have been abysmal too, but I did find a first. I got my first 1987, heavily circulated, but I finally have one. Next step is to get back to some Ag.
On a plus side, I've been finding pennies change in parking lots and vending machines like crazy. Probably about $2 worth in the past month and it's not like I'm even going out of my way.
Another positive is my last box of pennies was pretty good to me. $10 in and all I had was one wheat from the 40s. By the end of the box, I had at least a dozen keepers and 3 were from the 30's. I'll take that!
Well, wish me so good finds with my pickup this week. It's really taking the fun out of the hunt. If you never catch a fish, it's called sitting next to a pond, not fishing. I want to be a CRHunter, not a coin redistributor.
Good luck everyone.
