needle/fishing gear?

this is what i found near my previous post (the small ramrod?) its made of 2 pieces that are (now) stuck together, i thought that it could be used to remove hooks? its made of copper.

Being a fisherWOMAN, I concur with the fish hook degorger - plunger type. That would be an older one. Is it really copper? In the photos is looks like brass to me. Dunno
