Hi, I've just decided that I need to start working on things before age comes up and thumps me hard. In past years I have done metal detecting, though not all that much. I had a few finds while stationed in northeastern Italy. I also have about five years of gold mining in the area I live in, using a dry washer. I quit because of the difficulties of moving about the desert sandy roads. IN other words, I got stuck too many times, and decided about five years ago to quit.
I live in the southern California high desert area, 29Palms. The available local areas that I could do mining in are inaccessible via my car, a Honda CRV.
I have a basic mini sluice that I got years back, but have never used because it just doesn't work out here in the desert. I really am interested in trying my hand a wet gold mining, using this basic tool. I just don't know if there is any place in southern California that I can use this tool at, and most of all, if there is a place, that my vehicle can access without fear of getting stuck, and having to hike out for help. Done that too many times in the local area, and it isn't pleasant.
Anyway, I am not new to treasure hunting. I've done a little off and on since the 70's, and I really would like to try it again. I have a Bounty Hunter Time Ranger that I can use if I get back into metal detecting. I just check to see if it worked, and it seems to after some 10 years of not using it. I also have my mini sluice, and of course, I have a mini Gold Buddy Dry Washer, though no blower to power it with. I'm hoping that someone in southern California may be able to assist me in my quest to make a come back into the hobby. Caley
