Fairly new to detecting but after some sound advice I bought a new coil to extend the capabilities of my AT Pro with some fantastic results. My first 1833 half dollar! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1470101889.560868.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1470101951.445753.webp

Congrats on pulling that big silver. :occasion14: That coin is on many bucket lists, including mine.

Sweet Silver!!!! :occasion14:

Such awesome coins exist?? Great find!!

All I can say is WOWSERS!! That is definitely once in a life time find!! Amazing condition too. Jealous

Very nice coin, looks great. Not convinced it was the coil that got it though. Most should manage that coin. (If you go over it)

JJJJJJJJJACKPOT!!!!!! That 1833 silver is more than a bucket lister - it's a dream coin of a lifetime!

That's a Great find

I dug a bust half dollar last year, definitely a bucket list coin, but mine wasn't nearly as nice as yours, yours is in outstanding condition :headbang:

hh,

Site usually "trumps" Coil / Machine type.
Awesome Coin & Nice other relics as well.

Congrats on the capped bust half. I agree with Crusader that coin would be hard to miss. Great job

Congratz on big Silver! That's an awesome coin!

Bam! I'm jealous! Never found a bust half. We're just missing pics of the reverse. Bust type halves don't get found too often on this site. More and clearer pics could get you your first BANNER!

Now that's an awesome and beautiful and hard to dig coin. Congrats on a superb find!

Just curious, how deep were they?

Coin was about 8 inches down, maybe I'm giving the coil too much credit. Just trying to justify my purchase. Anyway like I said I'm fairly new to this hobby, just started last spring. I'll call it beginners luck. What I found interesting about the coin is that you can read " half dollar or 50 cents" on the outside edge. Hard to believe they had that ability in 1833 but the coin speaks for it's self.

I'll work on better pictures.

That had the ability to put edge writing on coins in the 17th C in the UK, & that was on tin coins.

And on some of the earliest US coinage as well.
