I just got permission to get on a 20 acre piece on the Tioughnioga river that was just plowed. I took a walk on it last evening and saw some chipped flint so hopefully it will rain soon as it was kinda difficult to see much in the loose dry dirt. I will say I was kind of thrown off in the location of the chips as i figured the higher ground would be where most action would have been. I only walked the outside edge but I'm thinking it's going to be a good one. Its not far from where the Hartford Convention with the Onondaga and Tuscarora signed a treaty in 1786. It is said there was 3 to 4 hundred natives at the signing.

We're getting ready to work dirt down here if the rain holds off a bit. Good luck... please report back with some pics!

Kindest regards,
Kantuck

So I got out yesterday and got to take some time and actually look and not just do a quick walk over. I'm excited to go back to say the least.

Nice finds. Hope you get back out there.

Looking good, great potential.

For me, if the Onondaga and Tuscarora treaty was there, there is a good chance the land was heavily populated in the 1700's which would warrant using a metal detector while searching for arrowheads.

Many trade items may be found there - you dont know if you dont look. Coinage from that time period as well could be found.

Could you post additional photos of the ax relic please? Thanks

Very interesting pieces. You’re in a good area for sure. Can’t wait to see all the rescues.

At first I was thinking net weight but then seems to be worked more than the other net weights I have found so started thinking maybe a hoe but still dont really know. Heres some more pics.

It may be a weight of some sort but it does not look like an axe to me.
Just my view from the images.

I don't believe it to be an axe myself but I'm not putting the possibility of a hoe away quite yet.
