Hello everyone, new to the site and like what I see. I dive the rivers to detect. My favorite sites are Rev War era, but won't kick a Civil War era site out of bed! Here's two beauties I found a couple weeks ago. British 63rd Regiment coat button and a 174-something holed reale. Happy Hunting!

Re: New Guy

:o Swamp Fox: Welcome to TN! Couple of nice finds there! Maybe a close up of the coin would help identify it.

Nice to see a Revolutionary War MD'er. 8)

Will do, Joe. Thanks for the welcome. I have a very interesting spanish cobb I'll post tonight that I'd like some input on from the silver experts. Later

HELLO MEIN COMRADE

Here's the 63rd cleaned. I soak these water found pewter buttons in olive oil for at least three days, keeping them wet until I get them home. The oil seems to replace the water in the corroded areas of the pewter, minimizing the cracking and flaking that occurs during drying. Just my theory anyway.

Here's the reale "cleaned". Soaked in olive oil three days, the "skin" easily flaked off with toothpicks.

Beautiful coin.... :P

awesome finds. Gotta love rev war goodies. I'm not sure there are many of us rev. war site hunters out there!?

Any more rev war buttons or relics to share?

That's all they are about here in smAlbany, NY. Saratoga, Tichonderoga, Lake George, Bennington. Lot's of troop movements from the French and Indain War through the CW here. Old commercial areas, swimming holes, and farms get overlooked by most (unless of course they were encampments). Scoping out two high traffic swimming hole/picnic areas this fall. We hope to find our version of Blockers Pond.

Great Finds!!!

Are you the one I saw diving near Port Jarvis NY?
Never dove for treasure and Ive only been diving in freshwater three times. Twice in Deposit, NY, and once in Allentown, PA. I'de love to dive for treasure if anyone needs a dive buddy. I don't have an underwater detector though.

VERY nice...both cleaned up real fine and look awesome...WTG!!
