I don't know how many have tried this yet but I'll throw it out there anyway for those of you who have not thought of it. I ran into my real estate agent in town today and we got talking about this lousy weather etc. I told him I couldn't wait for it to break so I can get back out there and do some hunting. He didn't know I was into MD'ng, he then told me that he has several properties on the market that I might be interested in searching, one is some farm land about 50 acres the house burnt down some time ago and the other property is an old house (empty) just on the outskirts of town, built in the early 1900's. I can search them if I like just let him know when I go out. Anyway when I got home I got on Realtor.com and found some other properties in my area that might be good spots, both residential and commercial. So if you haven't tried this yet, its another source. This is a great idea. Another great idea is contacting insurance companies and asking them if anyone has made claims of lost jewelry. The insurance company will pay you a percentage of the value of the item if you can recover it for them.

Insurance co. doesn't need the jewelry. Give it to them and see if they lower YOUR ins. premium anytime soon. Didn't think so. Why eat a bean when you can have the whole enchilada.

I've been searching some areas here with burned down homes. be prepared for a lot of nails, I think I have found enough to build my own house. A lot of them read like coins.

After I posted this, I thought why not plug the address'es into Terraserver and actually see what the properties look like. The aerial photo's where taken in 1997, the old farm house had burnt down prior to that but it does show the foundation of the house and a couple of out buildings still standing (at that time), so I got the lay of the land before going out, saved some leg work. Terraserver is a great website. HH Bob.B
