hello, as you all know, i recently found my oldest American coin, an 1857 large cent. As i was flipping through my coin book, i saw that that large cent is quite rare. It was the last year of mintage and shares the year with the flying eagle cent. This large cent is worth 4X more than all the others. It is wasn't stained and encrusted, it could be worth a lot. I thought i would post this here because i wanted everyone on this forum to know

Congratulations, again, GC! That'll keep you pumped for awhile. :)

Excellent find. I don't have one YET, but I sure would be proud if I found one.

I think I congratulated you when you found it, but either way Congratulations again on a great coin,

Congrats on a great find, GC! The latest issue of Coin World's Coin Values lists the 1857 large cent at $100 in Very Good condition; Fine, $150.

Here is the link when i posted it: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,47091.0.html

Basically, it was found maybe two inches in rocks and very foul mud. It was probably washed up by a strong tide. If you want to se the rest of my awsome finds from this site, let me know. Thanks for all the replies.
