Went to to new (very public) spot I had put off for a looong time. I know there are detectorists around and I was sure this place was hit many times before. Hence, me putting off going there. The place was an old site of a bridge which was torn down years ago connecting some tidal islands. A new road was built to accommodate the traffic now and this area sits very quiet a couple miles away. Still very public though with a sign, "PUBLIC ACCESS". I didn't think I would anything but had to go to at least scratch it off my list of places to hit. In the spring, summer and fall I detect the woods and inland streams. In the winter, I detect the tidal areas and ocean beaches. There the only places not frozen solid. Granted it was only 20 degrees this day with a wicked wind. Ouch!!! Anyway, my finds.

A "bone" toothbrush. Never saw one before and it was laying right on the surface. Cool!!!

A neat pewter(?) ashtray. No markings anywhere.

Parts of an Elgin pocket watch. It had the serial number on it and I was able to find it was made in 1885.
A pipe stand.
A little lead horse and jockey.
An alarm clock? Still has the beveled glass on front and from what I can see the parts inside. Therfe's a serial number but no name anywhere.

A clock in a piece of wood (surprise find)! Still has the glass and there's some writing on the back of the wood but I can't make it out.

A little piece of jewelry(?)

A mystery disk(?), lead.

Another mystery piece. Lead with some design work on it. About 1 1/2" square.
I did find other goodies including some beat up US. and Canadian Large Cents, a few old toasted pennies, a couple of clay pipe stems, 2 cosmetic lids, 2 pocket knives, 2 spoons (no silver), 2 buttons (one F.D. on it) probably the fire Dept., too gone to post. Etc., etc...
Lots of stuff, so little time. I'll be going back of course to this spot, as I've only scratched the surface and still have the other side of the causeway to hit. This alone could take all winter. Thanks for looking.
