I've recently became interested in metal detecting. I have been looking at detectors on the internet and at the kinds you all use.
I want to buy a decent detector but there are so many.
The Whites seem to be popular but are split into two groups. inexpensive and expensive, no middle.
I'm not looking to buy a cheap detector that isn't worth taking out and I don't want to spend more than necessary. I guess what I'm asking is What detector will be reliable and do a good job but no expensive bells and whistles that only make the thing cost more?
I will probably be looking for coins and jewelry in dirt. No sand.

The ace 250 is a fun machine with good preformance .There are some good machines for between 200.00 and 350.00 dollars.

Start with a Tesoro.....Why not?
Lifetime warranty

If you want some prices on a Minelab, Tesoro, Detector-pro or any Sun-Ray product.
Give me a hollar!

For entry to mid level I can say a lot of people like the Garrett Ace250, one of the guys I go hunting with has one. Garrett is a great company but I am not thrilled with a big yellow detector that says, hey trust me, this is a dime, ding-dong! But my friend seems to like it a lot, in fact he owns two of them and seems to do quite well with both. I might add that he sometimes gets more stuff then I do with my Safari. But I rather like having a target number with more tones and a few more options. So for that, thinking mid-level park hunting I like the Minelab Xterra units the most. I also like the new Teknetics Omega 8000. They are light, fast and able to hold their own under most any type of soil. But it is just hard to beat the value of the Ace250. Just paint it black. ;-)
