I was thinking about walking the edges of the Tennessee River here in Alabama to look for arrowheads and such. Is this a usefull technique or am I just getting exercise? I used to find items in Central Tenn. as a kid but that was many years ago and I have not really gone out looking for things in the past 25 years. Thanks for any help and advise.

My friend collects indian artifacts. At the country club where we work he finds a lot of arrowheads just by looking at the ground. When you know what your looking for just scanning the ground may bring you some great finds! :D :D

I agree. I always keep an eye on the ground. After a good rain is a good time to search. Also plowed fields , constructions sites / permissable of course.
