New to Treasure net and metal detecting

Good afternoon folks. I am totally new to this hobby but am hooked early. I have just purchased a whites spectrum xlt and am looking for custom programs to get the most out of my detector. I have downloaded and printed an owners manual and a few programs I have bench tested. I want to stay interested as I have no doubt I will but would also like to know if I may be missing out on GOOD targets. Any helpful hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. I will be doing most of my hunting in extreme southeast Texas to give any of you an idea of terrain I will be hunting in, beach/dry soil. Thanks, again

I hope so too. I have some cool places I would like to go but am hampered by federally owned land. I am practicing detecting and digging to try and get a feel for it and to get better at it. It may be a while before I post something good but in the mean time "coil to the ground"! ooo I just noticed A2coins you are using an equinox 800 from minelab, that will be my first major purchase just as soon as I round up the money for it. How do you like it? Is it as good as the reviews and videos I've seen on it?
