Go to Garrett Infinium prospector network, There is a lot of help for you at that site. The Infinium will hunt and go very deep but you must learn her, take your time and learn the language. Tom good luck!

LS Hunter........You'll need a top of the line scoop...and be ready to dig deep... INFINIUM LS was designed as a small nugget detector....It has not been detuned for saltwater, because of that you will need to freq balance and ground balance the LS absolutely perfectly.....check TN's Metal Detector Reviews - under garrett or just google Garrett Infinium Prospector Network...you can PM me and I'll send you URL.......Look for articles by John-Edmonton,Black Davy and other on how to beach tune the LS..... the learning curve can be a bit longer on the LS.....have patience and the Infinium LS will reward you...rdi

As a side note,Garrett may be having a problem with 10x14 in. coils not being stable

On scoops, bite the bullet and buy the best scoop you can, you will find it is well worth the cost. When your in the water waist to chest deep with rolling swells or rough surf; you want to be able to recover the target as quick as possible.

Some may disagree, it is only my personal opinion, but from what I have experienced the best place to be in the water is between ankle to waist deep, that is where I have made the majority of my jewelry finds. Remember ankle deep at low tide is waist deep or deeper at high tide.

Treasure_Hunter....It's going to be hard for anyone to disagree with you assessment..ankles to waist is the most productive area of salt water hunting,as for fresh water I can't comment because I have only hunted in fresh water a few times........Rdi

Although the eyecandy :tongue3: is certainly better on the sand ;D..........

Check on the Garrett thread here on TNET and also you can get some good info at the link below. Good luck and good choice on a water machine. I love mine.

The Infinium took a while for me to understand its language. However, at some point it all just clicked and made sense. Once it did, I realized just how good of a detector it is!

The web site mentioned on this whole post has alot of experienced hunters that can help you through the learning curve.

This machine is not easy to master and I'm still learning it! BUT, if you spend some time with it you'll be rewarded well.

The most critical thing is to learn how to ground balance correctly. You need patience to do it right. Go slow and don't rush it, get a good gb with the best frequency selected and you'll be on your way to good hunting.

In the beginning for me, I wanted to wrap it around tree on many occasions too!

Thanks!!!

Well freshwater is kind of frustrating. Where I live there are not any tides and it is a big lake, and no real threats to worry about such as riptides and things of that nature. So you can go out as deep as you can when you are swimming or playing ball. Makes it really hard for us detectorists to get out that deep, But I have found that ankle to waist deep is the most productive for trash and coins. I have not found any jewlery in the three years of water hunting, but I am sure it will come (hopefully sooner than later ;D). Oh and about being chest deep in water with a detector that can go deep be careful because you may very well soon be sinking in your own hole trying to dig a bottle cap with huge waves coming in over you  Crazy??
