Hello all and Happy New Year! I was lucky enough to get one of the new 15” coils for the Equinox about 3 weeks ago but with the Holidays, work, and the passing of my mother, have not gotten a chance to swing it. Woke up today, had breakfast and realized it was 60 degrees out. (Quite uncommon here this time of year) Made a deal with my wife that I’d go to my old close to home stomping ground park right up the street from the house; and that she and my son could come by after an hour or so and we’d take a walk. Anyway... I park, get a balance, and start swinging this ground I have pounded because of its convenience to my house. The new 15” feels like swinging a trash can lid along the ground compared to the stock 11”. (Surprisingly it’s not too heavy at all!)
I first dug a Lincoln, wheat, can slaw, wheat (in that order) all 8+” deep. Just as my wife and son arrived, my 5th signal was a jumpy high tone that had me intrigued. Cut it wide and deep and out came what I thought to be a pretty poor shape Classic or Matron. A few wipes and I saw “GEOR” and “REX”!!!
1st time swinging new coil on the 1st day of the year and got my 1st KGII, and therefor oldest coin to date! It’s not in the best of shape but I can make out what looks to be 1737!
What a way to start the year! I wish everyone a safe, healthy, happy, and LUCKY New Year! Thanks for looking!
