Newbie here- hooked

Hi there- I'm a newbie to metal detecting but have recently been hooked. I picked up a Garrett Ace 250 last week off craigslist, and in my first 5 hunts, I've found a gold ring, several coins, and today a bottled message (attached). I'm a San Diego native and most of my time is spent at the beach or in the water. I enjoy long romantic walks on the sand with my metal detector, and finding treasures. Hope to learn from all of you out there, and eventually upgrade my machine once I've found a few more rings.

You keep digging them gold rings and you'll be sporting a real fancy tector in no time. Welcome and it appears you are well on your way to that upgrade. Gold tends to run from me. I dig loads of foil, pull tabs, and just never manage to get much gold. Fine with me as I really don't stalk gold. I love old coins and usually hunt old sights. Enjoy the OCD of metal detecting : )
